BUTWAL: Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Kumar Gyawali has asserted that China and India were becoming reliable development partners to Nepal of late.
At a press meet organized by the Press Organization Nepal in Butwal on Friday, Minister Gyawali said the interest and attraction of both of the immediate neighbors were increasingly becoming more cordial.
Gyawali attributed recent developments such as inaugural of Motihari-Amlekhgunj petroleum pipeline by Prime Ministers of Nepal and India a few days ago and the Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi’s visit to Nepal for making Nepal’s bilateral ties with these countries more harmonious.
He shared that during the visit of Chinese Foreign Minister, they had concluded that the upcoming visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Nepal was very appropriate and Gyawali had told his Chinese counterpart that Nepali people were willing to welcome the Chinese President.
Furthermore, Minister Gyawali shared that his Chinese counterpart had assured that the highest political leadership in China would visit Nepal in an appropriate time.
Moreover, Gyawali shared that the Nepal-India Eminent Persons Group was going to submit its report to both governments in connection to resolving border issue with India. Stating that the government was effortful to streamline the border pillars, the Minister said, “Our intention is to buck the untoward activities in no man’s land and facilitate the commoners’ traffic.”
He reaffirmed the government’s stance on an anti-corruption campaign and said that the incumbent government has undertaken many good initiatives. Gyawali shared that campaign to inform and educate people about the good works of the Nepal Communist Party and the incumbent government would be launched following the completion of the party merger process.
The Minister said that the incumbent government had aimed at graduating Nepal from the least developed country to the status of developing country and make Nepal clinch the position of a middle-income country by 2030.
