Home Minister assures of action against NC leader’s assaulter



KATHMANDU: Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa on Friday assured the government would take stern action against those who thrashed Nepali Congress Banke President Kiran Koirala in Nepalgunj on Thursday.

Home Minister Thapa, meanwhile, urged the main opposition party Nepali Congress (NC) to refrain from spreading propaganda against Nepal Communist Party (NCP).

He added that the government has taken the case seriously adding that the culprits will be brought to justice.

Informing about the incident at a parliamentary committee today, Home Minister Thapa said police have arrested the miscreants adding that they were looking for others.

Koirala was attacked on Thursday while the party was celebrating the birth anniversary of BP Koirala.

While Koirala’s hand has been fractured, another NC cadre Bidya Prasad Khanal was injured.

Police have already arrested three persons for their alleged involvement in the attack.
