Venezuela’s opposition leader Juan Guido requests US military support

WASHINGTON: Venezuela’s opposition leader Juan Guaido has formally requested the support of US military forces. He has called the US Military to support the ongoing political and humanitarian crisis in the country, according to a letter published by his representative Carlos Vecchio.

Juan Guaido said that he had asked Vecchio to meet with Department of Defense officials to “cooperate” on a solution to the Venezuelan political crisis.

The United States and 54 countries recognized Guaido, but Russia, China, Turkey and numerous other countries have said they recognize President Nicolas Maduro as the only legitimate head of state in Venezuela.
