GAZA: Israel on Tuesday killed a top commander of Islamic Jihad, a militant group backed by Iran, in a targeted strike in the Gaza Strip.

Militants responded by firing rockets towards Israel, international media reports have said.

In what has been termed as the most serious escalation in several months, an Israeli missile attack targeted the house of an Islamic Jihad official in Damascus.

Two people were killed, according to Syrian state media. (Agencies)
