BHAKTAPUR: The flooded Hanumante River after the incessant rain in Bhaktapur district has begun inundating various places in the district.
The local administration has urged the people residing around the Hanumante River to shift to safer settlements and to observe a high level of precaution.
Chief District Officer (CDO) of Bhaktapur, Narayan Bhatta, shared that the people living nearby the River were asked to be alert. A team comprising Madhyapur Thimi municipality Mayor Madan Sundar Shrestha, CDO Bhatta, Nepal Army and Nepal Police personnel inspected various sites that were at high risk of inundation.
According to CDO Bhatta, the security personnel were standby for the rescue of people in those settlements where the flood has entered. Efforts were underway to clear the obstruction of the river course.
Flood has entered the human settlements at Surya Binayak, Ram Mandir, Barahistha, Radhe Radhe of Madhyapur Thimi, Shankhadhar Chowk, Balkot among other places in Bhaktapur.
The bridge linking Shankhadhar Chwok to Dhadhikot has been pushed down. Member of the House of Representative, Mahesh Basnet, shared that rescue equipment worth Rs 2 million were purchased in view of disaster management in the current fiscal year.
