KATHMANDU: Around 400,595 houses damaged in the devastating 2015 earthquake have been reconstructed, Sushil Gyawali, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of National Reconstruction Authority said.
Some 228,885 are under construction, according to him. Likewise, 52 percent of the reconstruction work has been completed while 30 percent is under-completion, CEO Gyawali informed the National Assembly Sustainable Development and Good Governance Committee on Wednesday.
According to Gyawali, around 767,248 beneficiaries have already signed the private home reconstruction agreement out of which some 99 percent have already taken the first installment of housing grant. Seventy-six percent has taken the second installment and 57 percent has taken the third installment, he informed. A total of Rs 300,000 has been provided by the government as housing grant in three installments.
