Hong Kong police fire rubber bullets to contain protestors

HONG KONG: Hong Kong police have fired rubber bullets and tear gas at protestors as the latter grew violent, media reports have said.

Demonstrators threw plastic bottles on police as protests turned violent against an extradition bill, which is said to allow people to be sent to mainland China for trial.

Thousands of demonstrators had gathered peacefully outside the Chinese-ruled city’s legislature, with several protestors charging police with umbrellas.

Several shops pulled won their shutters at the nearby IFC, Hong Kong’s one of the tallest buildings. (Agencies)
