Amid talks with US, Taliban declares spring offensive

KABUL: The Taliban declared Friday the beginning of their spring offensive. The declaration comes at a time when it is talking peace with the United States.

The insurgents released a lengthy missive in five languages, including English, saying the fighting would go forward while foreign forces remain in Afghanistan.

The announcement is something the militant group does every year, media report said.
