KIMFF kicks off; to screen 70 films from 29 countries

KATHMANDU: The 17th edition of Kathmandu International Mountain Film Festival (KIMFF) is starting today in Kathmandu.

According to the organizers, the 17th edition of the five-day festival will feature more than 70 films including fiction, documentaries, and experimental films from 29 countries.

The festival to be held at Rastriya Sabha Griha in Kathmandu will showcase 17 films by Nepalis.

According to the organizers, the top three films among the 17 listed ones will receive a cash prize of Rs 200,000, Rs 150,000, and Rs 100,000 respectively.

While the Himal Association is hosting the event, the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) is co-hosting the event. Likewise, Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) is the promoter of the five-day event.

Similarly, SDC, Open Society Foundations, Plan International Nepal, WWF Nepal, Toni Hagen Foundation, Nepal Mountaineering Association, British Council Nepal, UNICEF, Australian Embassy and Alliance Francaise are also supporting the event, according to the organizers.
