Parliamentary committees to hold talks with PM and Foreign Minister on border dispute

KATHMANDU: Parliamentary committees of the Federal Parliament are holding meetings with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Kumar Gyawali over the newly sketched map of India that includes Nepali lands Lipulekh, Limpiyadhura, and Kalapani.

The State Affairs and Good Governance Committee of the Federal Parliament has summoned Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli for a meeting to hold discussions to this effect.

Earlier, Prime Minister Oi had held an all-party meeting on the border encroachment dispute and the map of India on Saturday.

The meeting had concluded that the Kalapani is the land of Nepal and that the ongoing border dispute should be resolved through a diplomatic channel.

Similarly, the International Relations Committee of the Parliament has summoned Foreign Minister Pradeep Kumar Gyawali to hold talks on the border encroachment dispute today.

The meeting will begin at 11:30 am today. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs had issued a press statement stating that the encroached land belongs to Nepal.
