Xi’s visit to Nepal: 15,000 security personnel deployed

KATHMANDU: The government has deployed a total of 15 thousand security personnel from Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, and the National Intelligence Department during the state visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Nepal on October 12-13.

Chinese President Xi is arriving in Nepal today on a two-day state visit at the friendly invitation of Nepal’s President Bidhya Devi Bhandari.

According to Metropolitan Police Commissioner DIG Shailesh Thapa, all security measures have been made under the command of the Nepal Army.

DIG Thapa informed that some 3,000 police have been brought from outside the Kathmandu Valley for Xi’s visit.

An army source told Khabarhub that NA Brigadier General Sarad Giri will lead the command of the overall security for the visit.

Meanwhile, some army officers of the People’s Liberation Army of China will be providing security to President Xi on the right side of the President.

Likewise, Nepal Army trained officers will be mobilized on the left side of the President, security sources said.

A Nepal Army helicopter will be hovering in the sky during the visit.
