Xi’s Nepal visit will have long-term influence: Chinese Ambassador



KATHMANDU: Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Hou Yanqi has said that the two-day state Chinese President Xi Jinping will have a long-term impact on bilateral relations as well as the region.

Chinese President Xi will pay a state visit to Nepal from October 12 to 13.

Ambassador Hou said China-Nepal relations are at one of their best levels in history adding that the two countries have maintained close cooperation along with frequent official exchanges in recent years, news report published in news.cgtn said.

She stated that Nepali people and the government of Nepal have appreciated China’s assistance after the 2015 devastating earthquakes that struck the country.

According to her, the government of Nepal recognizes that bilateral relationship currently is at one of their best times in history, the report said.

She also added that President Xi’s visit will expand pragmatic cooperation, further enhance political mutual trust besides promoting people-to-people and cultural exchange.

The visit, she said, will inject new impetus in the China-Nepal relations, as well as China’s relations with South Asia as a whole.
