LONDON: NFL superstar Antonio Brown has denied allegations he raped a woman who formerly worked as his physical trainer.

Brown, who has recently joined the New England Patriots having been released by the Oakland Raiders without playing a game, was named in a federal lawsuit filed on Tuesday.

The civil complaint, filed in the Southern District of Florida, alleges that the seven-time Pro Bowler sexually assaulted Britney Taylor.

Taylor, 28, is seeking over $75,000 in the lawsuit amid claims of sexual battery, battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, false imprisonment and invasion of privacy for unwanted and offensive sexual contact.

Brown met the gymnast when they both attended Central Michigan University, and it is claimed he “preyed on [her] kindness and her religious devotion, casting himself as a person equally dedicated to his religious faith and someone she could trust”.

The lawsuit accuses Brown of assaulting Taylor twice in June 2017 and again in May 2018, although a statement issued by his attorney, Darren Heitner, stated Brown “denies each and every allegation in the lawsuit” and claims they were involved in a personal relationship that was “entirely consensual”.
