Nepal beats Bhutan 2-1 to win gold in SAG men’s football

KATHMANDU: Nepal defeated Bhutan 2-1 in the final of the men’s football under the 13th South Asian Games (SAG) on Tuesday afternoon to wrap up the regional sporting extravaganza with 51 gold medals.

At the match played at the Tripureshwor-based Dashrath Stadium, Nepal took an early lead after Abhishek Rijal scored in the 17th minute of the game.

Bhutan bounced back with a goal from Chencho Gyaltsen in the 37th minute of the game to level the score.

Sunil Bahl scored the second goal in the 54th minute of the game to secure victory for Nepal.
