KATHMANDU: At a time when there have been demonstrations against the release of the latest political map of India depicting Kalapani within the Indian territory, social media including Twitter and Facebook is flooded with slogans against China with hashtag “BackOffChina” as well as India.

Political analyst Surendra KC has held Nepal’s government responsible for the instances of encroachment of Nepali land both by China and India.

Former diplomat Durga Bhattarai tweeted KC’s article with the hashtag “BackOffChina” on twitter.

This is just an instance. Nepalis have been divided over the issue criticizing the northern neighbor of encroaching the Nepali land.

Several other social media users have criticized China for encroaching around 36 hectares of Nepali land in different districts, including Sankhuwasabha, Rasuwa, Sindhupalchowk, and Humla.

Likewise, Hamro Party Nepal and Communist Party Maoist (Center) jointly protested the Chinese encroachment.

China had agreed with India to open up a trade route in Limpiyadhura without the consent to Nepal in 2015.

Meanwhile, Nepal Students Union, a student organization of the Nepali Congress party, also chanted slogans against China and India in Kathmandu today.
