KATHMANDU: Although the government had allocated Rs 590 million for a preliminary study of tunnel ways in the different parts of the country, no progress has been made so far.

For the fiscal year 2019-20, the government allocated the budget for a detailed feasibility study of tunnel ways at Siddhababa of Siddhartha Highway, Tokha-Chahare-Gaje Bhanjyang, Khurkot-Chiyabari, BP Nagar-Khutiya-Dipayal, Thankot-Chitlang, and Lama Bagar.

Even after five months of budget allocation, no significant progress has been made so far.

“Delay is obvious in adopting new technology,” said Deputy Managing Director and Spokesperson at Department of Roads Shivahari Sapkota, adding that preparations have been made to start the works for the tunnel ways at once.
