Former Speaker Mahara admitted to Norvic Hospital

KATHMANDU: Former Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara has been admitted to the Thapathali-based Norvic International Hospital following complaints of health issues.

Hospital sources said Mahara has high blood pressure and diabetes.

Mahara, who was detained at the Metropolitan Police Circle, Singha Durbar, was earlier examined and treated at the Circle after he refused to go to the hospital.

Police had arrested Mahara from the Speaker’s official residence in Baluwatar following the Kathmandu District Court’s issuance of an arrest warrant on Sunday.

He has been alleged of attempting to rape Roshni Shahi, a staffer at the federal parliament secretariat.
