LUCKNOW: Around a dozen Indian tourists were beaten by a group of miscreants at Bilahiya, Sunauli of Nepal, following a dispute about the pass of the Indian plate vehicle last Sunday.

Several Indian tourists saved themselves from being thrashed by hiding at a police station, Indian media reports have said.

Nepal Police took the situation under control, Indian media reports have said. Some miscreants damaged the vehicles, reports said.

A group of Indian tourists, some staffers at Akashbani and Doodarsan, who were entering Nepal were stopped at around 9:30 pm, according to Binod Raya, in-charge at the Sunauli police check post.

Following the incident, Indian authorities reached the India-Nepal border to take stock of the situation.

The Indian side has demanded stern action against those involved in the attack. The tourists were then sent to Bhairahawa.
