Hailstorm damages crops in Myagdi



MYAGDI: Hailstorm has damaged paddy crop at Jyamrukkot of Beni municipality in Myagdi district.

It has caused damage equivalent to Rs 7.5 million, according to Hira Bahadur Thapa, ward chair of Beni municipality-2.

Thapa said that Tuesday’s heavy hailstorm damaged millet, paddy, fruits and vegetables at places such as Tamane, Gaushwara, Phaparkhet, Bimirabot among others in the municipality.

The hailstorm is said to have completely destroyed paddy of around 150 families in Jyamrukkot.

Thapa said they have called an emergency meeting of the municipality ward to discuss the issue. They are also collecting the information on the real extent of the damage.
