Nepali Congress launches 2nd nationwide awareness campaign

KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress launched its second nationwide awareness campaign today, the day marking the 106th birth anniversary of BP Koirala. The campaign runs for two weeks.

The party informed that various programs would be held in every 330 constituencies of the States. In a symbolic message of the 106th birth anniversary of the late leader BP Koirala, 106 tree saplings are planted in each constituency of the State.

Central leaders and party office bearers have been mobilized across the country to address the programs organized under the campaign. NC party office chief secretary Krishna Prasad Poudel informed that party President Sher Bahadur Deuba was addressing a function in Sunsari, senior leader Ramchandra Poudel in Kaski, Vice President Bimalendra Nidhi in Dhanusha, Vice President Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar in Sunsari, General Secretary Dr Sashank Koirala in Makwanpur, General Secretary Purna Bahadur Khadka in Bhaktapur, and Treasurer Sitadevi Yadav and Joint General Secretary Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat in Kathmandu.

Spokesperson of the party, Bishwo Prakash Sharma, said 15 themes including party consolidation, current politics, livelihood issues, and good governance feature prominently during the two-week-long campaign. The party has mobilized 330 central representatives in the States to make the campaign successful. “The programs would be interactive, where party leaders and representatives listen to people more and speak less,” he reminded.

As he explained, the party was focused on understanding the aspiration of common people and party followers, and make a review of two years of local governments.
