DHADING: The death toll from the Trishuli bus plunge has reached eight. Only two of them have been identified so far. They are 35-year-old Ajaya Das and Bijaya Kurmi, 25 of Sarlahi. The identities of one woman, a child and four men who died in the accident have yet to be established.
A passenger bus, Na 6 Kha 7469, heading to Kathmandu from Sarlahi veered off the road and plunged some 100 meters into the Trishuli River at Salanghat in Rorang Rural Municipality on Friday morning.
According to SP Raj Kumar Baidabar, three bodies were found at the incident site while the two bodies were recovered at Mugling area.
Similarly, a body of man was found near Krishnabhir and two bodies of women were recovered from Devghat area.
Some passengers had saved their lives by jumping off the bus while some swam to their safety.
As many as 16 injured are receiving treatment at National Trauma Center and the rest are at the other hospitals. A total of 42 people were traveling in the ill-fated bus. Over 20 people have gone missing in the river. The search for the missing is underway, said SP Baidabar.
