FNJ announces protest against Media Council Bill

KATHMANDU: The Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) has unveiled protest programs against anti-press freedom provisions in Media Council Bill.

The umbrella body of Nepali journalists has said that the Bill has aimed to clamp down on independent journalists and establish the proposed media council as a government-controlled body.

As per the protest plan, FNJ will hold discussions with former office-bearers, editors and among others on May 12, submit memorandums to Speaker and Chairman of National Assembly on May 13 and hold interactions with the chairman and members of the concerned committee on May 14 among others.
