DSP Sahi transferred after violent Kohalpur clash



KOHALPUR: DSP Hem Bahadur Sahi at Area Police Office, Kohalpur has been transferred to District Police Office, Banke following a violent clash on Sunday that was ensued after a schoolgirl was seriously injured in an accident.

Earlier, he was dragged into a controversy after the arrest of six leaders of Nepal Tarun Dal, a youth wing affiliated to the Nepali Congress (NC). DSP Shahi was accused of falsely accusing them of crime to vent his ire for not getting a present.

An-ally party meeting held on Monday afternoon decided to request the government to form a probe committee and to bear all the treatment expenses of those injured in the clash, according to Chief District Officer Kumar Bahadur Khadka.

Tension had run high in Kohalpur area on Sunday as a student group and locals protested after a truck with registration number plate Na 2 Kha 9459 ran over Prakriti Chand, a seventh-grader at local Tribhuvan Secondary School, leaving her severely injured.

The prohibited area was declared in some locations in Kohalpur to subside down the tense situation and prevent any untoward incident.
