Chinese Foreign Minister Yi to engage in important meetings today



KATHMANDU: Visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi who is on a three-day visit to Nepal, is scheduled to hold high-level meetings today.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), he is scheduled to separately call on President Bidya Devi Bhandari and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

On the occasion, a delegation-level meeting to be led by foreign ministers of Nepal and China, will be focused on augmenting economic and development partnership between the two countries.

A welcome reception will be organized the same night in honor of the visiting Chinese Foreign Minister.

According to a high-ranking official at the MoFA, during the delegation-level talks, treaties and agreements reached between the two countries in the past and China-supported projects in Nepal would be reviewed as well as their implementation emphasized.

Furthermore, the talks would also focus on the understanding reached for forming the Trans-Himalayan Multi-dimensional Connectivity Network between China and Nepal, the construction of the railway and mutual contacts as well as transport and transit agreements among other topics.

Following the talks, both sides are scheduled to sign the “Letter of Exchange’ on cooperation in education and health sector between the two countries.
