Heavy rains hit Washington DC; White House basement offices flooded

WASHINGTON DC: Torrential rains flooded the Washington DC, the US capital since early morning, US media reports have said.

The rains, according to reports, have caused massive road and rail delays. The heavy rains have also knocked out power for thousands.

Meanwhile, the rains have also partially flooded the White House basement. Police have been urging drivers to stay off the roads.

According to reports, water gushed into the press workspace in the White House basement near the West Wing.

Likewise, more rainfall was recorded in Arlington, Virginia. The rainfall is, however, expected to end by midday.
