Maitighar tense as police use force to disperse protesters



KATHMANDU: Maitighar area in Kathmandu has become tense on Sunday afternoon after police used force to disperse protesters staging a protest against a bill tabled by the government to manage land belonging to Guthis (religious/social trusts).

The law enforcement agency used water cannon to disperse the irate demonstrators. The protest has resulted in a traffic hold up in the area.

Police have arrested 10 protesters while 10 others have been injured in police action.
