Every year Nepal’s Kollywood industry churns out a handful of comedy movies blended with a bit of drama, and action.
Director Sudan KC’s film Dal Bhat Tarkari, released recently under comedy genre, seems to be inspired by the day to day happenings in the Nepali society. However, you have a reason to laugh.
The story here depicts the dream and craziness of the majority of the Nepalis who wish to migrate and settle in the United States by any means.
In the movie, Haribansha Acharya and Niruta Singh, despite representing a well-to-do Nepali family, wish to settle in the US, and earn a lot of money while their only son is a grown-up lad. The story has tried to relate this with the majority of the people’s wish, acknowledging the viewers’ sentiments.
Haribansha’s unique character reminds the viewers of his yesteryears when he makes the viewers laugh at the fullest. His unique way of dialogue delivery and action help in enthralling comedy lovers. Moreover, the songs and the music in the movie are mesmerizing. Niruta Singh’s role as a wife of Haribansha has done justice to the movie.
Interestingly, the story, as previously mentioned, has tried to portray the Nepali society when Haribansha separates himself with his wife by dividing the apartment with a tennis net. As usual, comedians Wilson Bikram Rai as Basundhara Bhusal, as a pair, too have done a commendable job in the movie.
The movie has also tried to present the trend of gold smuggling adding some masala. The film actually begins with a family dispute, however, ends with the message of patriotism.
