Women awareness to eliminate VAW: Deuba

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has extended his best wishes to all the Nepali sisters living in and outside of the country on the occasion of the International Women’s Day. The 109th International Women’s Day is being observed today with various programmes. The theme for this year is: ‘Think Equal, Build Smart and Innovate for Change’.

In a message of best wishes, NC President Deuba lamented that the cases of violence against women (VAW), oppression, subjugation and exploitation were still rife in our society. The former Prime Minister however expressed his confidence that the Day would contribute to raising awareness against VAW.

He has expressed his high regard for all the women who have made contributions including the sacrifice of lives for various social and political movements in the country.
