Sri Lanka beats Bangladesh by nine wickets in SAG



KATHMANDU: Sri Lanka U-23 defeated Bangladesh U-23 by nine wickets in the men’s cricket of the South Asian Games (SAG) played at TU cricket ground in Kirtipur on Sunday.

Chasing the 151-run target set by Bangladesh, Sri Lanka reached the score losing one wicket in 16.1 overs.

Lasith Croospulle and Pathum Nissanka were not out for Sri Lanka contributing 73 and 67 runs respectively. Mehedi Hasan Rana of Bangladesh took the lone wicket.

Earlier, put to bat first after losing the toss, Bangladesh reached 150 runs losing six wickets in the stipulated 20 overs as Yasir Ali hit 51 runs off 45 balls smashing five fours and a six.

Mahidul Islam Ankon and Zakir Hasan contributed 44 and 20 runs respectively.

Asitha Fernando of Sri Lanka grabbed two wickets.
