Star hotels in Nepalgunj wage price war

NEPALGUNJ: Star hotels in Nepalgunj have been involved in a cut-throat competition to secure operational cost.

The hotels established with the investment of millions of rupees have been charging just USD 20 (Rs 2,500 approx) for a room, according to a media report.

Three-star hotel Kalptaru Lords Inn, Nepalgunj and four-star hotel Hotel Sneha have been charging Rs 2,500 for a room.

Five-star hotel Soaltee Westend Premier has been booking a room for USD 50 (Rs 5,500 approx) and the Nepalgunj-based Siddhartha Hotel has been charging Rs 4,000 for a single room with bed and breakfast and Rs 6,000 for a double room.

Likewise, Tiger Resort in Bardiya has been charging Rs 2,500.

According to the report, 2,200 hotels have been added in Nepalgunj in the past four years.
