KATHMANDU: In what seems to an attempt to appease the Communist government in Nepal to fulfill its vested interest, a team of North Korean leaders who arrived in Nepal has got involved in political engagements.
In this regard, Deputy of Supreme People’s Assembly & Chairman of Pyongyang City People’s Committee of North Korea Cha Hui Rim met Nepal’s former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal at the latter’s residence in Koteshwor on Friday.
The visiting leader during a call of Nepal who is also Chief of Department of Foreign Affairs of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP), stressed close cooperation between two parties & countries and expressed his desire to work with Kathmandu Metropolitan City.
The Former PM highlighted Nepal’s priority of development & prosperity as well need to learn from each other’s experiences.
North Korean Ambassador to Nepal Jo Young Men and Deputy Ambassador Kim Jong Hyok were also present during the courtesy call.
The seven-member delegation is visiting Nepal in the invitation of Kathmandu Metropolitan City.
North Korea has been isolated by the international community as the United Nations (UN) has imposed strict sanctions on North Korea for its involvement in haphazard productions and tests of nuclear weapons.
It should be noted that Nepal’s government had given till October last to North Koreans in Nepal to pull back investment in Nepal and return to their country.
However, despite the expiry of the deadline, some North Koreans are still running their business in Nepal.
