Nepal Chamber of Commerce objects to Roop Jyoti’s arrest

KATHMANDU: Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) has objected to the arrest of renowned businessman and industrialist Roop Jyoti who has been contributing to industrialization in Nepal for long.

Issuing a statement on Friday, NCC said it was disheartened by the arrest of Roop Jyoti and his daughter Suruchi only being based on a complaint.

The umbrella organization of the private sector in Nepal said that such disrespectful behavior to industrialists and businessmen who are major contributors to revenue will discourage the private sector.

It will also foil an investment-friendly environment, it stated.

NCC has requested the concerned to make sure that respectful behavior is shown towards businessman and industrialist in course of law enforcement.

Roop Jyoti, who is also a former Assistant Minister for Finance, and his daughter Suruchi were arrested from Tribhuvan International Airport on Thursday night.
