KATHMANDU: The coat of arms of some of the government offices on their official websites does not appear to be consistent with the official map released by the Department of Survey (DoS).

Some of these coat of arms seem to be conforming to the Indian version of the recently released map, which provoked protests in Nepal.

The official map of the Department of Survey includes Kalapani within the Nepali territory.

The reason as why the coast of arms does not follow the DoS maps is because of the rampant tendency of picking unofficial maps of Nepal from web sources.

Most of the maps in the websites depict India’s position on Kalapani and other territories.

Even the coat of arms used by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) includes Nepal’s incorrect map.

Similar coat of arms is also found to have been used by the Nepali Embassies in Australia and Qatar.
