Bail hearing for murder-accused Alam continues today

RAUTAHAT: Bail hearing for suspended Nepali Congress (NC) lawmaker Mohammad Aftab Alam will continue at Rautahat District Court on Friday.

Recordkeeper at the court, Gunaraj Parajuli said that the court will resume the hearing today. Three advocates from Nepal Government advocated against Alam yesterday.

After the bail hearing, the court will determine whether or not to allow Alam to post bail and be released from police custody for the duration of his trial.

The Office of the District Attorney, Rautahat on Monday filed a case against 10 individuals including Alam on murder and explosion charges demanding their life in prison.

A Nepali Congress lawmaker Alam on October 13, 2019, was arrested in connection with an explosion and the subsequent murder of at least 23 persons in Rautahat 12 years ago.

Alam was elected to the federal parliament from Rautahat constituency-2 in the 2017 elections.
