Pawan Sarraf shines as Nepal sets 262-run target against Bangladesh



KATHMANDU: A brilliant 81-run knock by Pawan Sarraf helped Nepal to set 262 runs target against Bangladesh in its second match of the ongoing ACC U-19 Asia Cup in at Paikiasothy Saravanamuttu Stadium in Colombo, Sri Lanka on Sunday.

Invited to bat first after losing the toss, Nepal made 261 runs on the board losing eight wickets in the stipulated 50 overs.

Sarraf top-scored at 81 runs off 109 balls smashing eight fours and a six as Sandeep Jhora made 56 runs. Likewise, Rit Gautam and Kushal Malla contributed 32 and 28 runs respectively.

For Bangladesh, Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Shahin Alam grabbed two wickets each as Mrittunjoy Chowdhury, Rakibul Hasan, Minhazur Rahman and Towhid Hridoy took one wicket apiece.

After facing defeat in the hands of Sri Lanka in the first match, Nepal needs to win the match to keep its hope alive to earn a semifinals berth.

Sri Lanka had thrashed Nepal by five wickets on Friday. Pooled in Group ‘B’, Nepal will take on the UAE in its last match.
