29 die as a bus falls into a drain near Agra

NEW DELHI: At least 29 people have been killed and several others injured when a bus fell in a drain on Yamuna Expressway near Agra this morning, Indian media reports have said.

The UP Roadways bus UP33 AT5877 heading towards New Delhi from Lucknow lost control and fell in ‘Jharna Nala’ near Kuberpur, police said.

Police said that the driver of the bus apparently dozed off losing his control on the steering. As a result, the high-speed bus slipped off the Expressway and fell into the deep Jharna Nala.

Locals from the nearby village were able to bring out 20 alive passengers from the bus. (Agencies)
