Iran threatens to resume uranium enrichment

TEHRAN: Iran warned it will resume its high-level enrichment of uranium if world powers failed to protect its interests against U.S. sanctions, international media reports said.

This means that Iran pulled out of its commitments under the 2015 international nuclear deal.

Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani said the signatories – France, Britain, China, Germany, and Russia – had 60 days to make good on their vows to protect Iran’s oil as well as banking sectors.

He was responding to the U.S. withdrawal from a nuclear deal last year. (Agencies)
