Maldives football coach sacked after losing to Nepal

KATHMANDU: The Maldives has sacked its football coach Petar Segrt after the country’s team failed to perform well in the ongoing South Asian Games (SAG).

“Upon discussion with the Head Coach, we have come to an amicable agreement to end the contract between him and Maldives Football Association effective immediate,” the Maldives Football Association said in a tweet on Saturday, “Thanking him on behalf of the football family for the success & the development.”

The decision comes on the heels of the Maldives’ 2-1 defeat in the hands of Nepal earlier today.
