NEW DELHI: The Afghan Taliban have said it has freed at three Indian engineers in exchange for the release of 11 Taliban members.
A meeting between US Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation Zalmay Khalilzad and Afghan Taliban in Islamabad has decided to gradually show results after a prisoner swap agreement was being complied by releasing at least three Indian engineers who were under Taliban custody since 2018.
Meanwhile, the freed Afghan Taliban included senior leaders Maulvi Abdur Rashid and Sheikh Abdul Rahim who had served as governors of Nimroz and Kunar provinces during the Taliban rule before the US-led intervention in 2001.
Sources have claimed that the Taliban leaders were freed from the Bagram airbase by the US forces. (Agencies)
