Pokémon Go earns $110 Million in August 2019

KATHMANDU: Pokémon Go has garnered $110 Million in August 2019.  The data comes courtesy of Daniel Ahmad, a Senior Analyst at Niko Partners. The market research company, which mainly covers the Chinese and Southeast Asian games industry, said that Pokémon Go earned at least $110 million in August this year.

Apart from having the best month since September of 2016, the location-based AR game managed to stay on track to obtain around $3 billion in gross revenue. Interestingly, the only game successful so far in reaching the same heights is Supercell’s Clash of Clans.

For context, Pokémon Go’s $3 billion gross revenue is equivalent to selling at least 50 million copies of a game sold at $60 per unit.

Last month’s revenue suggests that Pokémon Go was able to witness an increase of 44 percent year-over-year, especially when you compare it to the $76.6 million grossed by the title in July 2018. Even more so, the figure is a 76 percent month-over-month increase from $63.5 million spent by players in July.

This past August was the fourth highest-earning month on record. Niantic’s popular mobile game has only earned more in July, August, and September of 2016. During the time, it grossed around $256 million, $195 million, and $141 million respectively.

Meanwhile, Pokémon Monsters, another recent entry from the Pokémon franchise, has also been doing very well so far. The game has reportedly grossed an estimated $20 million worldwide since its launch.
