BIRGUNJ: Police on Friday arrested a man on the charge of an acid attack on a schoolgirl.

The arrested is Majid Miyan. He has been accused of throwing acid on one Muskan Khatun, a 15-year-old school-going girl at Birgunj Metropolis on Friday.

Miya was arrested from his hideout in Birgunj-16, Mithilanagar on Friday night, according to police.

The victim was attacked with acid at around 6:15 am on Friday near Ganeshman Chowk when she was on the way to her school, Tribhuvan Madhyamik School.

A preliminary investigation said she was attacked after she rejected a love proposal from one of the three attackers.
