Halt citizenship distribution, SC orders



KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday ordered to halt the citizenship distribution process.

A joint bench of Justices Sushmalata Mathema and Ishwar Khatiwada issued an interim order to halt the process of distribution citizenship certificates on the basis of descent to the offspring of Nepali nationals, who have acquired citizenship certificates on the basis of birth.

The apex court was responding to a writ filed by advocate Bal Krishna Neupane.
