Bhrikuti Mandap land leased out against procurement act



KATHMANDU: Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a case against six individuals including former Minister for Women, Children and Social Welfare Badri Neupane for leasing out 97 ropanis of land belonging to Brikuti Mandap to various people and organizations against the procurement act.

According to the anti-graft body, the government officials leased out the land to various individuals and organizations at a chief price, thereby incurring a loss of Rs 2 billion to the government.

The others involved in the Bhrikuti land scam include then Member Secretary Rabindra Kumar Yadav, Treasure Kunja Bihari Chaudhary, Vice Chairman Pramod Mehata, member duo Madan Lal Karna and Hari Neupane.

Meanwhile, the government has issued a 60-day ultimatum to vacate the land.
