Global IME bank becomes largest commercial bank in Nepal

KATHMANDU: Global IME bank has become the largest commercial bank in Nepal following a merger with Janata Bank.

The bank has become the largest in many indexes including the volume of deposit, loan investment.

No commercial banks in Nepal have been able to maintain a deposit of more than Rs 200 billion in history. The record has been broken following the merger between the two banks.

The two banks have started operating their daily transactions jointly from Friday.

In the first three months of the current fiscal year, Janata Bank had Rs 8 billion while Global IME Bank had Rs 10.43 billion in paid-up capital.

‘Swap ratio’ following the merger between the two banks has been fixed at 100:85 in regard to units of shares.
