18,000 mobile sets enter Nepal daily



KATHMANDU: As many as 18,000 mobile sets enter the Nepali market on average on a daily basis, according to the records of the Department of Customs.

In the last three months of the current fiscal, a total of 1,623,795 mobile sets worth Rs 7.19 billion were imported.

A total of 1,362,331 mobile sets worth Rs 6.29 billion had been imported in the first three months of the previous fiscal year 2018/19.

The record shows that the highest number of mobile sets came from China, according to the record. As many as 1,284,000 mobile sets worth Rs 3.33 billion were imported from the northern neighbor.

Mobile sets of Huawei, Xiaomi, Oppo, OnePlus and Vivo companies were imported. Similarly, 312,000 mobile sets worth Rs 3.4 billion have entered Nepal from India in the same fiscal year.

Likewise, 27,000 mobile sets were imported from Vietnam followed by Japan, South Korea, Bangladesh.
