KATHMANDU: A meeting of the Public Accounts Committee of the Federal Parliament scheduled for Tuesday to discuss China-invested cement industry has been postponed.

The parliamentary committee meeting was adjourned after secretary of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies Yam Kumari Khatiwada and Chief Executive Officer of Investment Board Nepal (IBN) Maha Prasad Adhikari remained absent.

The meeting was supposed to hold discussions on the issues raised by the parliamentary sub-committee led by ruling party lawmaker Lekh Raj Bhatta in its report.

The China-invested cement factory, which is under-construction in Rorang Rural Municipality of Dhading, has been dragged into controversies after the government agreed to lease land to the company for 50 years.
