Women file 63 cases for divorce against 36 by men in Bhojpur



BHOJPUR: The number of women filing cases for divorce has outnumbered men in Bhojpur, of late.  According to the records maintained by the District Court, Bhojpur, a total of 99 cases have been registered in the last fiscal year 2018/2019.

A total of  36 cases were registered by men while the remaining 63 cases were registered by women, according to the record.  Men also filed cases for divorce in accordance with the new provision laid down in the National Civil Code, 2017.

The district court said the cases of divorce are increasing due to various reasons including foreign employment, distrust, social networking sites and domestic violence.

Of the total 99 cases registered in the last fiscal year, 83 cases were resolved while the remaining 16 cases are still pending.
