Fifth phase of Lok Sabha elections begins in India



KATHMANDU: The fifth phase of general elections has started in India. Indian citizens are casting their votes for 51 seats in seven states today.

The elections are taking place in Bihar State of India, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.

Today’s elections will decide the fate of Indian National Congress President Rahul Gandhi, UPA Chief Soniya Ghandhi, Home Minister Rajnath Singh,  Union Textiles Minister Smriti Irani, Rajya Bardhan Singh and Mehbooba Mufti.

A total of 674 candidates are in a fray for 51 seats. With this,  elections for 425 seats will be over.
