Chinese hackers attack 2,000 govt websites



KATHMANDU: Chinese hackers on Sunday  attacked 2,000 websites owned by the Nepal government, a report in Naya Patrika daily said.

Most of the government websites did not open, hitting hard the service seekers lining up at the Department of Foreign Employment, Department of Passport, Inland Revenue Offices among others.

Over 2,000 government websites did not open after the Chinese hackers attacked them simultaneously,  according to the National Information Technology Center (NITC).

Deputy Director General at the NITC Ramesh Prasad Pokharel said Chinese hackers had been trying to hit the websites of the Nepal government for the last four days.
