Traffic police take action against footpath encroachment



KATHMANDU: Traffic police are all set to act against the encroachment on road pavements inside the Kathmandu Valley.

The Metropolitan Traffic Police Division is intervening to prevent the pavement encroachment under the recently implemented ‘traffic management and pollution control improvement action plan-2075’.

In collaboration with several bodies/organizations, footpath shops and parking lots remaining along the Old Baneshwor –Sinagmangal; Pinglasthan-Gaushala Chowk; around the Koteshwor; New Baneshwor- Old Baneshwor; Tripureshwor- Kalanki; Chabahil- Jorpati; and Thapathali-Lagankhel routes will be removed.

According to Division’s senior superintendent of police, Basanta Kumar Panta, the campaign which has been in force since April 4 aims to make the traffic system efficient and well-managed.
